I can only speak from experience, and in the case of Street
Cleaner we really did have only 10 hours or thereabouts. We
were promised longer after the confiscation of our rather too
good scavenging find, but it never materialised. In any event
we didn't need it. It always looks like an impossibly fast finish
as the team spend all day making little bits and scavenging
tiny components. It then takes amazingly little time to glue
it all together with string and tape and three miles of Shane's
finest weld.
I have heard rumours of sub-10 hour build times, where both
teams have working machines so they take an early night. Like
I say, just rumour, no-one believes that !
